Located in central Alabama, Birmingham is the largest city in the state. Founded just after the Civil War in 1871, Birmingham was largely and industrial city, called for its sister city of the same name in England, and known as “The Pittsburgh of the South”. Despite its industrial history, Birmingham has grown into a city with a lively tourism industry and plenty of sites and things to do which make it a great destination for a family vacation or a romantic getaway.
Birmingham is a kid friendly city and has a variety of family hotels to ensure that you have a comfortable stay while you’re in town. If you are looking for a full service family hotel, the Wynfrey Hotel at Riverchase Galleria has all the amenities you need for a luxurious holiday—a swimming pool, restaurants and convenient shops. For a more cozy stay, there are plenty of Birmingham family bed and breakfast inns in town. The Country Hearth Inn is a pleasant choice, offering additional cribs and cots making for a kid friendly lodging.
There are several useful sites to help you plan a Birmingham holiday. www.informationbirmingham.com has helpful reviews and suggestions to make sure you experience the most of what Birmingham has to offer.
