Within a few steps of falling into the Canyon. This hotel was right there! The view faced the Canyon, but even on the top floor, there was still not a very direct view of the Canyon. We stayed two nights in the Thunderbird Lodge. We found it to be very comfortable, very clean, and most importantly, right near the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Can it get any better than that? Thunderbird lodge is not quite as charming as the two older lodges, but the rooms are very nice, recently updated. Very clean. Rooms have refrigerator. Bathrooms rather small but cute. We loved our stay and you have to stay more than one night --we did 3 and could have stayed 30 more --- the views,accomodations, food ,staff and the setting were all perfect.
