Mesa is Arizona's third largest city, it is also forms a part of the Greater Phoenix complex. Mesa has an interesting history; founded in 1878 by Mormon pioneers, a lot of its current residents still have this as their religion. The Mesa Arizona Temple is one of its oldest temples so you should make it a point to visit the area if you decide to make this your romantic getaway. With a population pegged at around 460,000, it is 37th largest city.
But although its population is quite large, Mesa can still be described as a "bedroom community" because of its diverse neighborhoods and friendly people. A good example of this diversity is its architecture, when you visit a particular neighborhood, you might be surprised to discover that some are incredibly modern with a minimalistic design while some are quite elaborate.
