About Phoenix
Why would anyone want to set up a city right in the middle of a desert? Well, the real question is, why not? Phoenix is a city that is located in the Salt and Verde Rivers; an area that was exploited by Native Americans as early as the 11th century. In addition, Phoenix is the hub of the Hohokam culture who built an extensive system of towns and villages. The remains of these villages can actually be seen up to this date.
It was only in the 1860s to the 1900s that the Anglo-American began to settle in Phoenix. With this development, acres of land were planted with cotton, citrus, and other plants. Today, Phoenix is an important center of culture, the arts, and the economy in Arizona. Travelers can expect a lot of trendy hotels, bars, and restaurants to dot the area.
