I can't even begin to describe my disappointing and brief experience with the Hotel Congress. When I called over a month ago, a very helpful young man made sure I understood the "no frills" atmosphere of the hotel. good for the young and hip
I stayed here the first day I arrived in Tucson in September 2003. I was looking for a hostel, but the Roadrunner (the only real hostel in town) was limiting its stays to two weeks (it wasn't made clear why). Hotel Congress is a very hip, fun place to hangout and stay. The hotel itself has a great restaurant with excellent desserts, a hair salon, and its located in what I thought to be the best street in Tucson. best birthday ever
This place is right out of the 1920's you have to understand yes there is no ac but there is evaporitive cooling. We went to sleep there after a night of partying in tuscons bar district of 4th ave, during the last week of July which was hot but not untolerable.
