Forth Smith vacations are for travelers who love nature, music and perhaps collect antiques. For nature and music lovers, there is the Forth Smith River Park that is on North B Street and Clayton Expressway. The park has a Riverfront Amphitheater that can accommodate 1,128 seated people. It is the chosen location for festivals and concerts. Thus, if the travelers had booked a Fort Smith hotel in the area, they can hear music emanating from the amphitheater. Aside from this major park, Fort Smith has two others that are just as gorgeous. These are the Ross Pendergraft Park that opened in 2001 and the Cisterna Park, which is named after Fort Smith’s sister city, Cisterna in Italy. For the antique collectors, an enlightening experience can be had at the Fort Smith Museum of History. The museum has several sections. The Time Line has vignettes from one period of American history to another, beginning with the Native Americans to the 21st-century residents. The Darby Room is dedicated to the World War II hero William O. Darby who trained the elite battalion called “Darby’s Rangers.” The Telephone Exhibit showcases the evolution of communication technology. The Boyd Gallery features the 1,500-piece Ella Tilles Falk Doll Collection. And probably the most fascinating area is the Museum of Antique Tools.
