Hotels all over the country are trying to woo couples into their guest rooms for the upcoming Valentine’s Day weekend. But don’t expect deep discounts over Cupid’s holiday, especially at the hotels you really want to stay at for a special occasion. You’ll still spend a pretty penny to spend the night at a nice hotel, but you and your sweetheart can get a lot more for your money if you take advantage of special Valentine’s Day amenities packages.
Instead of dropping prices, hotels are continuing with the “wow them with amenities” trend. Some upscale properties aren’t expecting you to spend the night at all and instead offer guests a chance to experience the amenities without even checking in.
Here are some of our favorite Valentine’s Day hotel packages from around the country.
Best Hotel Packages & Deals for Valentine’s Day
The Ritz-Carlton, New York Central Park – Cupcake Tea
Experience a little bit of New York City luxury without shelling out for a full night’s stay. The Ritz-Carlton, New York Central Park is offering a cupcake tea every weekend in February from 11am to 4 pm. For $28 per person you can enjoy 5 mini-cupcakes and coffee or tea (and any other non-alcoholic beverage, but that wouldn’t be tea then, would it?) Add champagne to your afternoon for $18.
The Fairmont Washington, D.C. – An Affair To Remember
If you’ve seen the movie, you know that the most famous scenes were set in New York. That hasn’t stopped Destination D.C. from borrowing the title for their month-long date night promotion, or The Fairmont Washington, D.C. from building a package around the movie. During the month of February, guests can book The “An affair to Remember” Package for $299 and enjoy an overnight stay, a $100 food and beverage credit to be applied to a room service dinner, and a DVD of the Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant classic. Enjoy dinner and a movie and let someone else make the bed the next morning!
San Luis Creek Lodge in San Luis Obispo, CA – Romantic Retreat Along the Creek
This may be the best deal in the country for a night of romantic pampering. For $279, guests at the San Luis Creek Lodge in Central California get: one night in either a premium king fireplace or jetted bathtub room, a $50 gift card for nearby Koberl at Blue restaurant, a bottle of local wine, Edna Valley Bakery’s chocolate truffles, red roses, and breakfast delivered to your room. I feel more relaxed just thinking about it.
The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Amelia Island – The Couples Chocolate and Pomegranate Wrap
If San Luis Creek Lodge is offering the best deal, The Ritz-Carlton Spa in Amelia Island may be offering the most unique Valentine’s Day special with their “Couples Chocolate and Pomegranate Wrap” spa treatment. Couples take a Honey Vanilla Milk Bath together before having two therapists apply a pomegranate sugar exfoliation and paraffin to hands and feet. And then you get painted in chocolate and wrapped together. You won’t find that option at your average local day spa. The Chocolate and Pomegranate spa package also includes a scalp massage and full-body massage for each person.
Cotton Tree on Grand Cayman Island – The Perfect Passion
It’s not technically in the country, but the Cotton Tree’s Perfect Passion Package may in fact be the key to perfect passion, or at least a really relaxing weekend. Guests of the boutique hotel will be greeted with rose petals, candlelight, gourmet goodies and a bottle of wine or champagne. The 3-night package also includes a champagne tasting, gourmet dinner brought to your room, a sunset horseback ride and massages in the open-air spa hut.
