50% Off on Sage Hotels

Sage Hospitality has a huge half-price summer sale in about 40 hotels in seventeen states, which has to be booked right now for summer stays.

Sage Hospitality - 50% off sale

Book the stay before 5 p.m. on March 04, 2011 and you get 50% off on the best available rate for a stay between May 26 and Sept. 5, 2011.

The list of participating hotels includes two hotels in Southern California, in Los Angeles and San Diego. Well, actually the LA hotel is in Monrovia in the San Gabriel Valley, but it is Los Angeles County. The San Diego hotel is in Del Mar, which is good enough too.

There are three participating hotels in Seattle, an airport hotel in Las Vegas and one each in Tempe, AZ and Ogden, UT. Colorado has a whole bunch on the list, with six hotels in Denver alone. There’s one in Portland, OR – the Marriott Portland City Center hotel, that is LEED certified.

In the south, there’s one hotel in Atlanta – the historic Glenn Hotel across from the Georgia Aquarium.  Florida has two hotels, one each in Fort Myers and Orlando.

The one in Orlando – the Hilton Garden Inn Orlando at SeaWorld, sounds pretty good for a summer vacation. The best available rate offered by this hotel begins from $129, so you could get a nightly rate of around $65.

There are two hotels in Texas – one at Six Flags in San Antonio and another one in Houston. Alabama also has two hotels on the list, in Spanish Fort. There is one on the list in North Carolina, in Charlotte.

The Midwest is pretty well represented too, with a couple of Chicago hotels, one each in Milwaukee and Cleveland and three in Michigan. Hotels in the Northeast are a bit sparse, but there is one in Pittsburgh.

All said and done, a pretty good deal for a cheap vacation just about anywhere you want, provided you book before 5 p.m. on March 4.

New York City’s Tiniest Hotel Rooms

50 sq ft room at Jane Hotel in NYC

How can you score a hotel room in Manhattan for less than $100 per night?

Check into one of New York City’s tiniest hotel rooms.

There’s really no such thing as a “spacious” hotel room in Manhattan, but micro-hotels like The Jane Hotel take scaling down to an extreme with rooms measuring as little as 50 square feet. Within those few feet, guests can expect to find a bed, a phone on the wall, and a shelf above the bed to store luggage. Personal hygiene must be taken care of in the communal bathroom down the hall. If you need a little more space and a bathroom of your own, The Jane offers 50 rooms that boast 250 square feet of lodging space for about double the price of the standard mini-room.

Across the island from The Jane’s Far West Village location, The Pod Hotel offers “pod rooms” in East Midtown with about 99 square feet of space for as little as $85 a night, a rate that includes free WiFi. You can get your own bathroom for just $10 more per night. While The Jane’s rooms tend to be decorated in dark paneling that could make the claustrophobic traveler feel like they were confined in the hull of a ship, The Pod’s decor is bright and modern, a better match for the “broke but hip” crowd.

The idea of micro-hotels might seem crazy, but it’s actually spreading. On April 15, the new Yotel Time Square will open in the famed tourist district and become the chain’s first micro-hotel in the United States. The Yotel rooms will be about 170 square feet and cost guests just over $200 per night. Yotel has enjoyed success with the pod-like rooms in its properties in Europe, including a location in London Heathrow’s Terminal 4.

Would you consider staying in a room with less than 100 square feet of space if it only cost you $85 per night to stay in Midtown Manhattan? I’ve certainly payed a lot more money for not much more usable space, and the size of my hotel room is rarely a major concern when I’m visiting The City That Never Sleeps.

A $18 Room With a View of the New York Skyline

Sounds too good to be true, but it is true – The Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel (formerly the Sheraton Suites on the Hudson) is located five minutes from midtown Manhattan, and is currently offering a second night stay for $18.

Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel, NJ

Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel, NJ

This 347-room hotel with spacey and comfortable rooms is located across the Hudson on the waterfront in Weehawken, NJ and offers views of the famed New York City skyline.

You can walk out the hotel’s doors and get on the NY Waterway Ferry right outside for a 6 minute ride to the New York City attractions.

Apparently the hotel has brand new rooms after spending $18 million on a renovation, so they want to let people know about it.

That’s why they’re offering the $18 rate for the second night’s stay, and the promotion is valid for 18 days only.

Way it works is that you book the first night for $218 and get the second one for $18. If you stay four nights, you can get two nights for $18 each. The offer is valid Thursday – Sunday, from now through August 31, 2011.

But you have to book before March 7, 2011 and the reservation has to be made via telephone – call 866-716-8115 and use rate code 18LTO.

The best part of the deal is the 350 sq ft size rooms, with separate sitting areas and wet bars. It’s positively palatial, when you consider the kind of rooms that tourists would get in cheap hotels in New York for the same rate.

The hotel also has a business center, indoor pool and fitness center. Guests can enjoy Italian cuisine al fresco on the outdoor riverfront patio at the Masina Trattoria Italiana, with views of the New York City skyline.
