Hotel Slogans for Social Media Day

June 30 has been ‘declared’ as Social Media Day by the folks at Mashable, who want everyone to socialize with meet-ups and tweet-ups and any other ups you can think of. Many hotel companies seem to have been afflicted with this social bug.

Fairmont says “Make your June 30th Happy With an Appy.” Appy, in this case, is an appetizer. All you have to do is drop by any participating Fairmont bar or lounge and nosh on a tasty appetizer.

Oh, and you’ll need to say the secret password to your server to get your appy. What’s the password? “Go Social.” Go figure…

Hilton Garden Inn timed the launch of a new ad campaign pretty well. It makes use of the abbreviated texting, email and social media lingo that is creeping into everyday language – things like EOD, ROI, TCB and B&B.

Judy Christa-Cathey, vice president, global brand marketing, Hilton Garden Inn, explains that “Our new 2011 advertising campaign not only understands the language of a traveler, but shows we speak their language.”

And the campaign’s name? “We Speak Success.” Oh, and HGI also launched an eCard Facebook app which allows you to poke people who “speak too much success.”

Radisson Edwardian’s London and Manchester hotels have created a late checkout promo for Social Media Day, available until July 31. When you arrive at their hotel, check-in via Facebook or Foursquare and show the staff at the hotel’s check-in desk that you also checked in on your smartphone. That gives you 2 hours more over the standard checkout time.

The promo name? “Check in, check out later.” Check it out here.

If you’re looking for more social media day hotel deals like these, HotelChatter has seven of them listed here, including the aforementioned Fairmont appy.

Vancouver Luxury at the Loden Hotel

Curl up in your stylish room at the Loden

Everyone deserves a little pampering, especially on vacation. But luxury comes in many flavors—not all of which are tasty to your palate. If your idea of a luxe hotel is more contemporary than old-school regal, make sure you get a room at the Loden Hotel in Vancouver.

The Loden, in Vancouver’s Coal Harbor neighborhood, has 77 stylish hotel rooms, all with décor inspired by the surrounding environment: mountains, forest and sea. As a result, your room is a reflection of the city and its setting in nature.

Rooms feature marble bathrooms (including a deep soaking tub and separate rainfall shower) with an integrated sound system, 42-inch flat-screen TV, iPod/iPhone docking station, in-room yoga props for traveling yogis, comfortable bathrobes and slippers, a corner sofa and workstation space for on-the-road devices. Wi-Fi and wired Internet are available, however for an extra charge of $14.95 per 24 hours. Rates start at $199 and vary, depending on season and type of room.

If Vancouver wasn’t such a beautiful city, full of attractions and tasty dining options, I would have been happy to hang out in my room and enjoy the views from the bed. That was my favorite thing; each morning, I didn’t want to get up because I was so comfortable.

Visit Tableau Bar & Bistro next door for mealtime, the BeFit Studio for your workout, or relax with a massage in the spa suite. To get  great view of green Vancouver, take advantage of the hotel’s complimentary Cruiser bicycles—and take a spin around Stanley Park.

Even Fido will appreciate the Loden—pets are welcome for an additional $35 charge, and there’s no weight limit. Next time I come, I’m bringing my big chocolate Lab.
