Colorado Aspens
When I hear “Colorado,” I usually think of two things: Denver and skiing. But, as Colorado locals and dedicated leaf peepers already know, the state is also a fantastic place to experience beautiful fall foliage colors. The colors there are, overall, a little different than what you might see in the Northeast simply because there are so many aspen trees in Colorado. But, I can tell you that these aspens acquire unbelievably beautiful shades of yellow in September and October; an entire hillside covered by them is an impressive, memorable site.
The Grand Junction area is one of the best places to see fall color. Any of these Grand Junction, Colorado hotels will be perfect starting points for your trip. The fall colors in this area start to show by mid-September, and you can follow the color change south.
And, from now until the end of the month, the fall foliage near Telluride, Colorado should be gorgeous. You might find that prices for Telluride hotels are a little more here than they are in Grand Junction, but the area is so pretty.
And, according to this article, if you stay at any Crested Butte Mountain Resort property in September or October, you save 25%! Perfect timing for leaf peepers and nature lovers alike.
