Hyatt Regency Vancouver

Want to know where to stay, play or eat in Vancouver? Karra Barron and the UpTake Vancouver – Local Getaway Crew have you covered!  Today’s post from Karra and UpTake Vancouver features a great place to celebrate the holiday season.

It’s a wonderland of holiday hotels here on Uptake.com, and here in Vancouver, where the winter weather is just as unpredictable as how long you can fend off a kiss from Great Aunt Mildred and her sandpaper lips, the Hyatt Regency Hotel offers you a fantastic place of refuge from both.

Take a trip down Gingerbread Lane, which is celebrating its 20th year in the Vancouver hotel lobby until December 27th 2010. Kids and grownups alike will be awed by the amazing display of nearly 40 individually crafted gingerbread creations of all shapes and sizes. There are gingerbread men, women, animals, and of course, houses.

Located in the heart of Downtown Vancouver, the Hyatt is also home to the largest gingerbread house in the city. Created by hotel Executive Sous Chef , Hans Lutz, the house measures 11ft tall and 16ft wide. It took 500 pounds of gingerbread dough, 400 pounds of confection sugar and 1,400 egg whites to create this masterpiece.

And, if you’re looking at a New Year’s trip to the city, the Hyatt has the perfect package for you:

Book your stay for between December 28, 2010 and January 4, 2010, and you’ll be treated to a full breakfast for two each day, and a late 2pm check out on your departure date. Did I mention that you get all that at just $159 per day?

Looks like Aunt Mildred will have to save her kisses until next year.
