Relax poolside at CostaBaja Resort & Spa

Tired of a hectic lifestyle? Head to peaceful La Paz in Baja California Sur, Mexico. It’s a huge break from the bustle of Los Cabos, and you can easily enjoy yourself when you set your home base at CostaBaja Resort & Spa.

The 115-room boutique hotel is decorated with artwork from the surrounding region, giving guests a real sense of place. From the open-air lobby, you can gaze out at the pool and the Sea of Cortez. Rooms include suites, pool view, sea view, marina view and golf course view. All include free Wi-Fi, telephones, coffee/tea makers, and 42-inch flat-screen TVs. Even the glass-enclosed showers have views. Rates start at $199 and vary, depending on type of room and season.

Cruise in for your vacation and park your yacht at the nearby marina, or arrange for a transfer from the La Paz airport (for a separate fee). Take it slow and walk along the beach, get a relaxing treatment from the spa, or play a round at the Gary Player Signature golf course—the first in the country.

Don’t miss a tasty meal at Steinbeck’s—the on-site restaurant named after the author who wrote The Log From the Sea of Cortez. Take your time and view the special collection of reposado tequila bottles squirreled away behind glass. You can’t sip from them, but you can order some crisp tequila from the bar. And since it’s an important ingredient for chilling out in La Paz, I encourage you to do just that.
