You might have heard about babymoon hotel packages and there’s even a few hotels which offer packages to help couples get pregnant. But a hotel package to give birth?
Marmara Manhattan
The Marmara Manhattan Hotel in New York is offering an extended stay package for pregnant aliens who want their babies to pop out all wrapped up in the star-spangled banner.
The 14th Amendment makes all children born on American soil bonafide American citizens, and it’s no big secret either.
But a hotel offering a birth package that includes a 2-month vacation in New York is probably something novel.
The 60-day Birth Package begins with an airport pickup and transfer from JFK Airport. Also includes special gift sets for the mother and the newborn, along with a crib and consultation and help services after birth.
Monthly rates for the package range from $5,100 for a studio suite to $15,000 for a 3-bedroom suite. Does not include medical charges. The total cost of a 2-month stay at the hotel plus the medical bills is likely to be in excess of $45,000.
The Marmara Manhattan is part of a Turkish hotel chain, so the Birth Package is aimed at rich Turkish families who might want their children to become Americans.
On the hotel’s website, it says “The Marmara Manhattan, the number one choice of Turkish families visiting New York, for either leisure or long stays, before and after giving birth, has prepared an exclusive package for new mothers that wish to give birth in the USA in the year 2010. This 60 day long stay package provides mothers with all the comfort and assistance they need before and after giving birth.”

This should ILLEGAL… PERIOD… We are giving Turkish supported business too much freedom in this country.. No wonder Turkey can pressure US to do what they want us to do.. it is just sad.. simply a sad picture…
It already IS illegal to enter the U.S. under false pretense. You can’t enter the U.S. on a visitor’s visa with the intent of giving birth there. So, at best the child can claim American citizenship but the parents can be deported. If they take the child with them, and seek to assert citizenship rights for the child elsewhere, the child risks losing U.S. citizenship. This is rarely done, but I confirmed with the State Department that it was a possibility.
A am a legal U.S. immigrant, who has an American-born son. Before become immigrants, and while still in the U.S. on a non-immigrant work visa, I had to return to Canada because I got layed off. We took our son with us, and not wishing to have him lose his American citizenship inquired of the State Department what his status was as the Canadian government was pressuring us to assert his Canadian citizenship by blood. Their response was exactly as above. We chose to pay for foreign health insurance for him rather than claim his Canadian citizenship so he could get “free, wait in line forever” care. As a foreign citizen, he could have private health insurance — something denied to Canadians. (Every time we were threatened that we were breaking the law getting him foreign insurance, we produced his American passport. There was a risk that he could be deported, though.)
In the end we had a chance to return to the U.S. on another work visa, became legal immigrants, and brought our son back.
it is upsetting because the politians do not want to be the ones who deny this. because then they loose the “whatever” vote. a friend of mine had a child born in france. there are rules, such as, he has to live in france for a certain time period from birth to 18 years old. he is not just automatically french.
change the law already !!
Just because something is legal, doesn’t make it moral. This is an immoral act. To combat this, the 14th amendment must be changed immediately.
