Last weekend, my husband and I were invited to stay overnight at the Taj Boston Hotel, on the corner of Newbury Street and Arlington Street, right across from the Boston Public Garden. We were looking forward to the night away, especially at such a luxurious hotel.
We were treated to a premium park-view room, with a beautiful view of the Public Garden. Since the weather was so nice on Saturday, it was great to see all of the activity in the garden – including many tourists and families riding the swan boats.
The room itself was comfortable, with fun, luxurious extras like a pillow menu and a bath menu (a bath attendant will draw your bath to your specifications).
The hotel does have WiFi, for an extra charge of approximately $10 per night (something I wish were free). The amenities, including the Molton Brown toiletries and the bathrobes, are a nice added touch.
Service was wonderful. The staff, from car valets to the front desk employees, were extraordinarily accommodating. However, the key draw here is most definitely the location – walk out right onto Newbury Street to loads of high-end shops and fun bistros and restaurants. We had a great time just walking around the city, and it’s great to be on vacation without needing your car!
We also experienced the Sunday Champagne Brunch, a delicious, luxurious treat, right on the rooftop of the hotel. The brunch includes countless delicacies, including sushi, shrimp, oysters, made-to-order omelets, pasta salads, cheeses, fruits, hot food, and desserts, and the service is fabulous.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend the Taj Hotel Boston, for the excellent service and wonderful location. The hotel itself does lack a “wow” factor, but it’s not really necessary given all of the other factors.
