A Spooky Stay in Atlanta’s Haunted Beverly Hills Inn

Beverly Hills Inn in Atlanta, Georgia's Buckhead neighborhood

Boo! Yes, it’s that time of year again, when some of us love to try and scare ourselves. If you’re in the mood to be a little spooked, check in to Atlanta, Georgia’s reportedly haunted Beverly Hills Inn in Buckhead. The hotel has been a bed and breakfast since 1982, but the property’s been in existence since 1929. That’s 82 years of history – plenty of time for some poor departed souls to figure out they’d rather stick around and have some with current guests.

If you go, call ahead and ask for “the haunted room” on the third floor. The front desk will know precisely which room you mean. If you can’t score this room, though, not to worry; there is reportedly a lot of paranormal activity in the hallways and in some other rooms, as well.

If you’re looking for a modern, fancy place, this bed and breakfast may not be for you. If, however, you’d like an older, more charming hotel with lots of character (and a dash of spookiness added in), you’ve found your spot to explore Atlanta from. You’ll be located about a 20 minute drive from down Atlanta and the hotel is close to many Atlanta-area attractions including The Swan House, the Atlanta History Center and the posh Lenox Square Mall.

Do yourself a favor this Halloween season and check in to this cute hotel. Just don’t complain if an extra guest ends up checking in to your own room. Don’t be scared, now…

$109 rooms at Atlanta, GA’s JW Marriott Buckhead

Atlanta Skyline

Atlanta Skyline

Quick, quick! Atlanta, Georgia’s beautiful JW Marriott in Buckhead has tossed out a truly too-good-to-ignore deal: an Advance Purchase Rate on rooms for $109 plus tax! You have to stay on either August 21, 22, 28 or 29. You have to reserve your room at least one full day ahead of time, and once you reserve, you have to fork over all of your money right there, and there are NO refunds. But, come on, would you really cancel?
Rooms here normally start at around $200/night. You’ll enjoy large, comfy rooms (LOVE the sheets at Marriott hotels), a nice exercise rooms, a big indoor pool, a number of bars and the yummy Lenox Grille. You’ll be close to Lenox Square Mall, too (the hotel is actually connected to the mall!), where you can shop till you drop (just don’t drop dead of a heart attack when you see the prices at the stores.)

I like the bathrooms at this hotel – check them out and you’ll see why. Marble counter tops, separate showers and baths, fuzzy bath robes. I often judge a hotel room by the quality of the bathroom, because that element plays a big part in how much I feel at home.

Just put down the “ADP” promotion code when promoted in the box. Then you’re off to enjoy a really nice hotel at a very small price.

W Hotel Opens in Buckhead near Atlanta, Georgia

W Hotel in Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia

W Hotel in Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia

I just heard about the grand opening party for the new W Hotel in Buckhead near downtown Atlanta, Georgia, which happened on January 23. Wish I could have gone! The entire hotel was apparently designed by “Queer Eye’s” Thom Filicia, and the interior has been described as being shabby chic. Room choices are named either “Fabulous” or “Wonderful,” which I thought was kind of cute. It appears from descriptions of the grand opening party invitations, as well as from the few photos I’ve found, that there is somewhat of an Asian theme as well. Very cool!

There’s a rooftop bar called Whiskey Blue, the view is supposed to be amazing. I’ve also heard there’s a huge rooftop patio outfitted with large, comfy sofas, and that Thursday nights are the hot night to go. The Buckhead area has a ton of classy restaurants and a huge, spectacular (if pricey!) mall, so there’s lots to see and do right around the hotel. The hotel offers a ton of different pacakges to help customize your stay, too, and they’re offering some great specials in January and February.

Sound like I have a new place to check out this Thursday! I’ll report back with my findings.
