Getting hotel deals used to be a matter of using a travel agent, a travel Web site, AAA, or some other “deal” site.  Lately, I’ve noticed a trend where some forward-thinking visitors’ bureaus and hotels are offering special promotions to their Facebook and/or Twitter followers.

The Charles Hotel, located in the heart of Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA, is one such hotel offering great deals to followers.  “Like” the Charles Hotel on Facebook, and/or follow them on Twitter, and on #TravelTuesday (which is every Tuesday), a new deal is posted.

Some of the deals have included $259 per night with a $25 food and beverage credit from June 25-30th (a savings of $65), and book any Wednesday in June for $259 per night with a $50 credit.  These deals are only valid on the Tuesday they are posted and every week the available deals change.
