A Spooky Stay in Atlanta’s Haunted Beverly Hills Inn

Beverly Hills Inn in Atlanta, Georgia's Buckhead neighborhood

Boo! Yes, it’s that time of year again, when some of us love to try and scare ourselves. If you’re in the mood to be a little spooked, check in to Atlanta, Georgia’s reportedly haunted Beverly Hills Inn in Buckhead. The hotel has been a bed and breakfast since 1982, but the property’s been in existence since 1929. That’s 82 years of history – plenty of time for some poor departed souls to figure out they’d rather stick around and have some with current guests.

If you go, call ahead and ask for “the haunted room” on the third floor. The front desk will know precisely which room you mean. If you can’t score this room, though, not to worry; there is reportedly a lot of paranormal activity in the hallways and in some other rooms, as well.

If you’re looking for a modern, fancy place, this bed and breakfast may not be for you. If, however, you’d like an older, more charming hotel with lots of character (and a dash of spookiness added in), you’ve found your spot to explore Atlanta from. You’ll be located about a 20 minute drive from down Atlanta and the hotel is close to many Atlanta-area attractions including The Swan House, the Atlanta History Center and the posh Lenox Square Mall.

Do yourself a favor this Halloween season and check in to this cute hotel. Just don’t complain if an extra guest ends up checking in to your own room. Don’t be scared, now…

Hotels in Haunted Cities for Halloween

The floors creek, doors slam, and locals swear that was a ghost you saw walking down the street last night. Sound like a perfect Halloween vacation? Then you’ll love these scary hotels in some of America’s most haunted cities.

St. Augustine, Florida

America’s oldest town prides itself on having spooky residents around every corner. Take a ghost tour before settling in for the night at The Casablanca Inn, where you might spot a lantern waving back and forth courtesy of the original owner who used the lights to signal bootleggers when law enforcement came around. The Ponce de Leon Hotel is also said to be haunted, but you can only spend the night here if you’re a registered college student as its now part of Flagler College.

Savannah, Georgia

Southerners love their ghosts and Savannah is no exception. For your best chance at coming face to face with a ghost, check in to Olde Harbour Inn, home of the popular and often-spotted Hank. East Bay Inn claims to host a ghost named Charley and swears a guest photographed the spirit in 2001.

Salem, Massachusettes

With a history of witch trials, it’s no surprise that this New England town attracts ghost hunters year round. For a particularly harrowing Halloween, book a night at Hawthorne Hotel. Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote the Scarlet Letter here and today there is rumors about a haunted elevator. The Salem Inn is also believed to be haunted – past guests report mysterious toilet flushing, oh my!

Spooky, Haunted Hotel for Halloween: 1886 Crescent Hotel

Downtown Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Downtown Eureka Springs, Arkansas

If you don’t mind having some extra guests in your room, and by guests I mean GHOSTS, then check in to the 1886 Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas this year! Right around Halloween would be very fun. This sprawling Victorian was constructed in (you guessed it) 1886, and it’s beautiful, spooky and charming all at once. The grounds are gorgeous, and the hotel is chock full of history (don’t forget to sign up for one of the walking tours!)

Rooms here are romantic but not overly frilly. You might want to check out the brand-new cottages which were finished in 2008, they’re supposed to be lovely. If it were me, though, I’d go for the Jacuzzi Suites. They used to be servant’s quarters, but now they’re much nicer. If you’re really going for a splurge, the Penthouse or the Governor’s Suite could fit the bill.

And don’t forget – this hotel also offers amazing, highly recommended spa services! It’s called the New Moon Spa. 7200 square feet of massages, body wraps scrubs and more. That way, if you’re tense and scared by ghostly activity, you can go back up to your room nice and relaxed.

A group of friends and I have decided to meet up once a year at an amazing supposedly haunted hotel in a pretty location…the 1886 Crescent Hotel is now at the top of my list!

Haunted Hotels for Halloween

Ghost

Ghost

Drafty corridors. Flashes of movement in mirrors. Billowing drapes and creaky floorboards. Scare yet? You should be! Halloween isn’t far away, and staying in a haunted hotel with friends is one of the most fun things you can do on Halloween night. Have fun, and prepared to be afraid, very afraid…

The Admiral Fell Inn – Baltimore, Maryland

This hotel has served a number of different uses, and some of its buildings have been around since the 1770s. There are many rumors of ghostly happenings in and around the hotel.

The Driskill Hotel – Austin, Texas

Stunning hotel and one of Austin’s most famous landmarks. Listen for the sounds of a little girl laughing and bouncing a ball in the hallways and other haunted happenings…

The Hawthorne Hotel – Salem, Massachusetts

Considering Salem’s history, it’s not surprise that there are some hotels rumored to be haunted in the town. This hotel has actually only around since 1925, so its ghosts are younger than some of the rest of the town’s.

The Roosevelt Hotel - Hollywood, California

Some say you’ll see more than celebrities as this swanky Hollywood Hotel. Hotel workers says they’re frequently spooked by spirits.

The Marshall House – Savannah, Georgia

This hotel dates to 1851, and at one point was used as a clinic for injured Union soldiers during the Civil War.

The Stanley Hotel – Estes Park, Colorado

Had to include this sprawling Colorado hotel – it was the hotel that inspired Stephen King to write The Shining. He stayed in room 217. Room 418 is rumored to be very haunted.
