Did You Pick The Right Hotel for “Shagability” on Valentine’s Day?

Tonight’s the big night. Time to see if all that careful planning – reservations, flowers, hiring scantily clad musicians to play love songs on harps and trombones table-side – pays off.

Will your creativity lead to breakfast for two, or a pat on the back and promise to “call you”?

Shagscore.com, a new “sexy hotel/activity guide” website, claims to be able to rate your shagability before you pick up your date.  All you need to do is insert your plans and wait for your shag score to appear.  If your drinks at mom’s house and dinner at Denny’s leave you with the shagability of a “creeper” instead of an encouraging “at-a-boy”, you can change up your plans with the guide’s help.

Shagscore.com launched on Valentine’s Day and uses much of the data collected from UpTake.com to rate hotels, restaurants and other attractions that might woo your would-be sweetheart.

This video gives you an idea of how the shag-o-meter works.

So what do you think? Are your plans fail-proof, or will you be dining alone on leftover chocolates Tuesday morning?

Across The Country: Best Hotel Deals for Valentine’s Day

Celebrate Valentine's Day with great hotel packages

Hotels all over the country are trying to woo couples into their guest rooms for the upcoming Valentine’s Day weekend.  But don’t expect deep discounts over Cupid’s holiday, especially at the hotels you really want to stay at for a special occasion.  You’ll still spend a pretty penny to spend the night at a nice hotel, but you and your sweetheart can get a lot more for your money if you take advantage of special Valentine’s Day amenities packages.

Instead of dropping prices, hotels are continuing with the “wow them with amenities” trend.  Some upscale properties aren’t expecting you to spend the night at all and instead offer guests a chance to experience the amenities without even checking in.

Romantic Hotels in New York City for Valentine’s Day

There’s nothing better to express your love on Valentine’s Day than a weekend getaway in a romantic hotel. Especially if said hotel happens to be in New York City.

Here’s a listing of the most romantic hotels in New York, because a stay at one of these hotels is by itself an aphrodisiac and will light up a raging fire inside even a cold heart in the middle of an East Coast winter.

Bryant Park Hotel & The Plaza Hotel, New York

Bryant Park Hotel & The Plaza Hotel, New York

Bryant Park Hotel: Nominated as New York’s most romantic hotel by CitySearch.com, located in the landmark Radiator Building and home to the legendary Godiva Decadence Suite which was entirely made of chocolate, furnishings, bed and all.

That suite may not be available, but they do have a Godiva Chocolate & Champagne package, along with a couples massage package and a movies in bed package.

The Plaza Hotel: If you’re planning to impress a date with the perfect Valentine’s Day weekend, then this has to be it. The Plaza is a New York institution, and they know a thing or two about luxury, romance, and making sure guests are provided absolute privacy. The hotel even has a Champagne Dreams package which includes a luxurious guest room or suite, champagne and chocolates.

Lafayette House: If your idea of romance is getting into bed and staying there, then this is it. Listed by Concierge.com as one of the best hotels in New York for an affair, this little hotel with 15 rooms dates all the way back to 1845 and the rooms are pure old world charm with heavy and ornate furnishings, fireplaces, hardwood floors and chandeliers. Best part is that they don’t have a front desk – you call ahead and someone will open the door for you.

Hotel Elysée: Also voted (twice) as New York’s most romantic hotel, it dates back to the 1920′s and combines the romantic ambiance of a private country inn with the service of a 5-star hotel. They even have a ‘Love, Suite Love’ package which offers a premier suite with a decorative fireplace and a baby grand piano once owned by Vladimir Horowitz.

Inn New York City: An award winning delightful little place in a quiet tree-lined block in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. It is a restored 19th century townhouse and offers an exclusive and romantic stay in one of only four suites. Comes with a Jacuzzi, sauna, fireplace, piano and outdoor terrace.
