Wisconsin Hotel Cancels Valentine’s Day Swinger Party
Stevens Point, WI is all riled up over a hotel takeover swinger party that was scheduled for Valentine’s Day Weekend at the Royale Inn.
Stevens Point Police Chief Kevin Ruder leaned on the hotel a bit and let them know that if they don’t call off the swinger party, they face thousands of dollars in fines or even might get shut down.
Stevens Point ordinances apparently do not allow sexually-themed businesses to operate within 750 ft of establishments licensed to sell liquor, and the hotel has a bar and restaurant. So the Royale Inn caved and says that it has cancelled the event.
Statement from Doug Myers of the Royale Inn, as sent to NewsChannel 7: “The City officials have made it very clear to me that we will cancel this groups reservations or endure severe fines, revocation of licensing and/or possible closure. Do [sic] to this we have canceled this groups reservations to arrive and we will not host this group unless legal instructions are provided.”
The swinger party was organized by one Marvin Thomann, owner of Club NCN (No Clothing Necessary), a swinger campground based in Black River Falls, WI. Thomann says the party is still on, and if the Police Chief doesn’t back off the hotel before Feb 1, he’s going to file a lawsuit.
From what can be seen on the hotel’s website, it looks very much suitable for meetings & group vacations. In addition to the bar & restaurant, pool, sauna and whirlpool, the 118 room Royale Inn also offers free parking and a video game room.
