If you're barreling up the I-5 and don't want to detour into Bakersfield for the night, you could do worse than the Best Western Heritage Inn near the Buttonwillow exit. Don't expect much for your money here!

Well I just relocated from So Cal to Oregon, I drove up the 5N with my cat. I stayed at 7 different hotels. All ranging from 2-4 stars/approx $70-$200 per room.
