Cockroaches and bad service

Dinner at Brook Dale

We didn't actually stay AT the lodge but had dinner at the Brook Room on a lark. On our way to Big Basin Campground we passed the Brookdale Lodge at which point I yelled, "HEY! I SAW THAT ON TV!!" being the passive ghost hunter, I had watched several shows documenting the Brookdale Lodge. My first impression was, "Lime green?" and "That can't be it, it's a bit of a dump." Well. Later in the week my husband decided that I should stop in and just double check to make sure it is the place I was thinking about. Entering the double door entrance you step back into time a bit. The lobby is a bit dark and feels dusty. Very disappointing

A friend and I recently stayed at the Brookdale Lodge. I'll try to sum up our stay there quickly. The room we stayed in was fine, it was clean and the staff came by daily to clean and make the bed. The problem with this place is the permanent residents. The noise is too much for any guest to deal with imo. After trying to sleep from 9pm until 11pm I finally went out on our deck and ... Wonderful Aging Resort

If you are into Nostalgia, Redwoods, relaxing, and don't mind a few bumps in the road, this is the place for you. The Lodge was built in the 1920's has a lot of history and yes a lot of constant wear. There are rules but it's to help preserve this historic building. Haunted? Yes! I saw a female ghost in the fireside room, and captured orbs in my pictures. The ghosts don't show up on command, they do it at their own pace. The Brook Room---Food was wonderful, pricey but wonderful, we had the baked meatloaf, large portions, couldn't finish it, the brook made it romantic. Service was a little slow but most accomidating, made for leisurely dinning. The Lounge Bar---Staff and drinks just great, very popular on weekends. Nice Swimming Pool but call for Pool hours, only open Thurs-Sun. Must sign in for safty sake, Life guard on duty but children MUST be with a responsible adult.
