Nice, convenient stay at Svendsgaard
Just returned from a two-night stay here... we were placed in room #34 (a queen room). I was not expecting much after reading all the reviews posted here, but to my surprise the room and inn exceeded my expectations. Get a Copy of the Charges
The rooms are very basic. The walls are thin and you can hear every thing from the room next door, especially when you’re trying to sleep. Carmel is expensive so I did not have a problem with price. Staff was very nice and went out of their way to accomodate us for one night during the Monterey Jazz Festival. Was told it was a small room. Turned out to be larger than we expected. Conveniently located, with pretty grounds, very friendly staff. Some rooms are half the size of all the others, however (double-double), and ours was cramped and had only one window looking out on walk-by.
