Don't eat the food.

The people were very nice, and the service was good. Although when I called for directions I was given the wrong directions. The complimentary food was deplorable. My first experience with Hawthorn will likely be my last. Only one other car in the parking lot on my first night should have been a clear warning sign. Problems??? Really??? Great value, comfortable room
I'd stayed at this location for about 2 weeks back in 2003, when my family and I had first moved to California. Back then it seemed like a hidden gem, for rates that are on average ~20-30/night lower than what the other big brand hotels charge you get a mini (fridge, stove, sink) or full suite in... cdublu, a user of Tripadvisor. Answering the phone while trying to check me in, is terrible. Second, the room states non-smoking, but the smell of smoke and mold told me differently.
