4.0: if you're going to do business in the area, here is the place to stay

I just finished up my last of three business stays at the Double Tree Hotel in Irvine. I stayed here because of the hotel's proximity to a semiconductor research company, and there are lots of technology and auto company offices nearby (I'm not sure what they are doing in this region). There really doesn't seem to be much else going on in the area other than generic office buildings, even more bland buildings, some McMansions on hills nearby, and of course the massive Spectrum outdoor mall about a half mile away. If you're doing business in the area, you might consider not renting a car and just relying on the DoubleTree shuttle that goes between the hotel and the airport. The van can also drop you off at businesses in the area and at the Spectrum. I never took advantage of this service, as it wasn't 100% clear to me the availability of the shuttle and how reliable it was for pickups (but I'm sure the front ... malcovemagnesia, a user of Tripadvisor.
