Homewood Suites La Quinta, CA--Winning Combination!

Staying at the brand new Homewood Suites in La Quinta, CA twice within its first weeks of opening was a real pleasure! Of course, part of the appeal was that it's NEW (in this area, one has to be careful of tired properties no matter all the bells & whistles (e.g., golf course, tennis, spa they provide) AND very affordable with online searches during this 'shoulder season.' Importantly for this desert region where early September can feel like a venerable furnace, the A/C system is Super! Homewood Suites is impeccably situated with majestic mountain views all around, on a slight knoll so that views are unobstructed and dramatic. It's likely more quiet on the poolside because of Washington Street (I've only stayed twice and each time on the courtyard/poolside) traffic during peak hours. Outstanding restaurants and grocery stores plus Trader Joe's are all within a 3-minute drive. Retail stores like Kohl's, Target, Marshall's, Ross, and Costco are within 7-10 min. drive. Palm Springs Int'l Airport is more distant, about 30 minutes away. When here you are practically across the street from two other cities--Indian Wells and Palm Desert. I like having the option of a kitchenette in any hotel property; sometimes a late night bite is the operative chance for dinner.
