A perfect stay in Mendocino

We visited this great spot over the 4th of July holiday. We had a wonderful time. The room (we had the Headlands Room) was beautifully appointed and comfortable. The bathroom was small, but pretty and functional. The view was very nice: headlands, neighboring historic building, and, if you tilt your head, the lighthouse itself. Go to the Lighthouse--it's a keeper!

Staying for 2 nights at the Lighthouse Inn at Point Cabrillo was nothing short of an amazing and incomparable experience. The Inn is a meticulously restored 1909 former Head Lightkeeper’s home and offers 4 guest rooms, all upstairs. We stayed in the largest, the Lightkeeper’s Room, but were able to take a look at the other 3 rooms and each one is spacious, beautifully appointed with antiques and has wonderful ocean views. The Lighthouse Room is the only room with a direct view of the Lighthouse itself, but every room is a great room! There are also 2 separate cottages a short distance from the Inn and these are both handicap-accessible. Our Lightkeeper’s Room was very comfortable and quite peaceful. Everything in it was in pristine condition and the architectural details were extremely impressive. My only “complaints”: lack of counterspace in the small room that held the toilet and sink (the roomy and lovely shower/tub was in a separate room) and that’s typical for historic buildings, no closets (just wall hooks), and an overhead tank toilet which looked great, but temperamentally required 2 flushes to completely banish toilet paper.
