2.0: Good for Point Reyes

Of all the places we have stayed in the Point Reyes area (Inverness Lodge, Blackthorne Inn, Golden Hinde, Point Reyes Seashore Lodge), the Point Reyes Station Inn is my favorite. Like the previous reviewer observed and described so well, you just don’t get what you pay for in Point Reyes. For this very reason we have chosen to stay at the less expensive places for fear we will be blatantly ripped off as we were at Blackthorne Inn. But you go to Point Reyes for the unspoiled beauty. You can have a very romantic getaway, but it will be thanks to the splendor of the area and not the accommodation. Having said that, Point Reyes Station Inn is pretty nice. 4.0: Probably better than most in the area

My experience is that inns/B&B establishments in the Pt Reyes area tend to be overpriced, often resulting in higher customer expectations that are often not met. We were mostly satisfied with our stay at the Pt Reyes Station inn, given the premium you have to pay just to stay anywhere in the area. The Pt Reyes Station Inn is clean, new, comfortable, has a decent breakfast, and a nice outdoor patio. Only downside was the car light/noise from the country highway. Details: This "inn" is pretty new and was in good shape when we visited in Aug 2004 for a birthday weekend. It's not designed like an inn in a traditional sense. It has a kind of generic feel to it, like an upscale suburban tract house modified to comfortably house multiple sets of guests.
