A little bit of Japan
The Ambrose is a recently opened, independent, boutique style hotel. I doubt you will find a better hotel for your money in Santa Monica - the main reason being it's located a short car drive from the expensive sea-front (but therefore the tramps as well). Just OK then they really blew it.....
We absolutely loved the décor of the hotel with its craftsman influence and Asian overtones which is a nice reflection to this great style that was once so popular in California. It isn’t exactly close to what many people come to Santa Monica for, the beach, but if you understand this going in a quick trip using a bus on Wilshire Blvd will have you there in no time. We reserved a “premier” room but looking back, would have opted for a “deluxe” since I couldn’t see anything that really called for the extra charge.
