Frisco vacations are often assumed to be ski vacations. But
it can also be described as trips to the American past. This is due to the vivid
history of Frisco, Colorado. The area was first settled by wandering Ute
Indians who decided that this region of the land, where winter and spring can
sometimes exist side by side, is a good place to settle. Then, the white men
came. These white men are unlike other pioneers who came in stage coaches.
These white “mountain men” came with exceptional hunting skills and they trap
beavers for their thick coat. Obviously, Frisco is not for the physically weak,
until the dawn of mining came. With two railroads and dozens of mines, various
businesses sprouted, including Frisco hotels and saloons. Then, the Great
Depression reduced the population to a mere 18 people. For years, Frisco
remained a small slow town and there were very few travelers who like to have
Frisco vacations. Then, the ski industry was born. Numerous Frisco hotels and
inns were established and these Frisco accommodations promote skiing. Of course,
as pointed out, Frisco is not just a ski county. It is a historical county.
Travelers can have this unique experience into America’s past by visiting the
Frisco Historic Park. In the park, the travelers can find the original 1881
jail, photos of Ute Indians, and even the school house near a mine. Admission
is free to this park.
