Dirty, Noisy & Smelly

We have had a wide variety of travel adventures, but the Florida House Inn was one of the most expensive dumps we have ever booked ($250/night). The rooms were filthy with mounds of dust everywhere. Family Style

This is Florida's oldest surviving hotel which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1857, by David Yulee - his Florida Railroad from Fernandina to Cedar Key was to be the first cross state railroad. The original building was of typical frame Vernacular "Cracker" style construction. David Yulee left town on his Railroad, shortly after the port and Fort Clinch was seized by the Northern Troops during the Civil War.
