Home of Iowa State University and their famous Cyclones, Ames continues to be a popular main stay for families every summer, attracting thousands each year.  Ames is Iowa's most popular vacation destination for families and kids, with plenty of kid friendly attractions nearby to entertain younger kids.  If choosing to stay in Ames, consider lodging with modern digs instead of local lodging outside of town, which does not accommodate families and kids.  The downtown area is your best stay. 

Looking for family friendly lodging?  For lodging appropriate for bigger families, choose upscale lodging near the University.  Rooms here are spacious, full with kid friendly amenities, and often feature big bathtubs shallow enough for younger kids.  Attractions here are only a short walk away, including several famous Ames restaurants.
