Ames is Iowa's most popular vacation destination for families and kids, with plenty of kid friendly attractions nearby to entertain younger kids. If choosing to stay in Ames, consider lodging with modern digs instead of local lodging outside of town, which does not accommodate families and kids. The downtown area is your best stay.
