1.0: Worst hotel I've stayed at in years

This was my second stay at this hotel - I last stayed there 2 years ago and wasn't impressed then, but it's the only "city central" hotel in Cedar Rapids (as well as being the highest rated for some unknown reason). Where to start? - when I checked in, I told the clerk that I hadn't got any sleep during my last stay with them due to the close proximity of the freight trains shunting through downtown all night, so could I please request a room further away from the rail tracks. He said "certainly - I'll put you down the corridor". So far so good, but "down the corridor" ended up being precisely in the middle of the floor, facing onto the elevator lobby. I suspected I'd traded trains for elevator "dings", but as it turned out there didn't appear to be anybody else staying on that floor (smart people) so my fears were unfounded. :-) I then unpacked my laptop and attempted to connect to the free wifi network.
