I stayed at the Four Points Sheraton in Des Moines, IA March 7-10. I usually stay at a Fairfield, Courtyard, or Hilton Garden when traveling on business. This trip was important that I stay at a hotel close to where I would be doing business. So, I found the Four Points by Sheraton and booked it thinking it would be like the hotel lines I mentioned above. Upon check in, I found this hotel to be a bit outdated. The lobby is ok, but nothing spectacular. The check in was painless and quick. I found the hallway leading to my room to be very dark. As a single young woman, I am very aware of my surroundings and found this hotel to be a little unsafe. When I entered my room, I could tell right away that this stay would be different than the stays at the hotels listed above. The room/hallway had a strange odor. 1.0: Unpleasant Stay

My wife and I stayed at the Four Points in October of 2005 to attend and help with the wedding of a close friend. The hotel is close to the highway on a resonably busy road with some limited shopping and fast food nearby. I didn't have extremely high expectations for this hotel. I was just hoping for something comfortable - nothing fancy. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our stay. We checked into our room late on a Thursday night after having driven for about 6 hours from Chicago. The older lady at the front desk was very pleasant. We unloaded our things (we brought quite a bit, including a wedding gift, dress clothes, boxes of decorations, etc.) into our first floor room since we weren't comfortable leaving things in our car (the back parking lot didn't look all that safe). I have stayed at this hotel 2 differnt times now. The first time was in Ocotober 2005 when it was the four points. We (School BPA) were supposed to get a non-smoking room with 2 double beds. When we first got to the hotel it seemed like a nice place, but quickly learned that it was trash. We had to wait 2 hrs for our room to get cleaned.
