Not what we hoped for
The setting was lovely, the food incredible, but.... Our room was the disappointing part. The carpet was greatly in need of cleaning and the room had a musty smell. OK place
The Village Cove Inn is more like a motel than inn or hotel. They have a decent outdoor pool, an indoor pool, and a fitness center with some basic equipment. The restaurant is average at best, breakfast is decent though. The staff is friendly, and they do clean the rooms each day. The place isn't... jammers, a user of Tripadvisor. Upkeep needed
We were very excited about the Inn from all the reviews we saw and the photos online. However, the Inn didn't live up to its Today Show reputation. The decks and porches were very dangerous. Kennebunkport can be a very busy place in the summer. FROM THE MAINE TURNPIKE, TAKE EXIT 2 TO ROUTE 9 EAST IN WELLS, OR EXIT 3 TO ROUTE 35 EAST TO KENNEBUNK. FOLLOW ROUTE 9 OR ROUTE 35 TO KENNEBUNKPORT WHERE THE TWO ROUTES JOIN AT THE SIGNAL LIGHTS NEXT TO THE SUNOCO GAS STATION . TAKE ROUTE 9 ACROSS THE BRIDGE INTO DOCK SQUARE . GO STRAIGHT THROUGH DOCK SQUARE, THEN RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE NOTT HOUSE ONTO MAINE STREET. STAYING ON MAINE STREET, GO HALF A MILE, THEN BEAR RIGHT AT THE FORK IN THE ROAD ONTO SOUTH MAINE STREET . WE ARE 3/10 S OF A MILE ON RIGHT. LOOK HIGH ON THE POSTS FOR THE BLUE SIGNS WITH THE WHITE GLOW IN THE DARK LETTERING
