Tragic shell of its former self

We have been guests at Blackpoint many times in the past years. Our past experiences were always wonderful, a lovely comfortable hotel, attentive staff, quick courteous service and excellent food. Unfortunately they have ruined this wonderful place. The grand old pool and ocean front lounge area is gone! The poolside restaurant is gone! The giant chess set is gone! We had planned to spend our days at the pool swimming and having lunch. The new pool is absolutely depressing, something you would find at $50.00 per night roadside motel. We should have been informed in advance that one of the most important parts of the resort was gone! The service in the restaurant is the worst I have EVER experienced. Breakfast: Each of the three mornings we arrived for breakfast at 7:30 am and the restaurant was opened between 10 and 15 minutes late. The restaurant should be open at 7:00 at the latest, and always on time! Each morning our breakfast took over an hour to be prepared. What could possibly explain the interminable inexcusable wait? We were the only people in the dinning room! To make this wait even more annoying we were never offered additional coffee or ... papayadave, a user of Tripadvisor. Read full review on tripadvisor
