Double bed/King dilemma

I had a frustrating experience checking in. While I reserved a non-smoking room with two double beds I was offered either a smoking room with two doubles or a non-smoking with a king. Not the worst place I've ever stayed in, but certainly far from the best. All just pretty shabby--stains on carpet, spread and walls, drapes coming off their hooks, light bulbs in lamps not working, lamp shades crumpled, tiles cracked in the bathroom with a VERY slow draining tub and sink.
