The porch alone makes it worth it !
I grew up playing on the beaches of Spring Lake (where my parents still live), so I still spend lots of time there even though I now reside in South Jersey. Last summer my father rented a bunch of rooms at the Ocean House for a family reunion and it was perfect. The rooms are clean & quaint (you won't spend much time in them anyway) and the wrap-around porch is HUGE!! A Wonderful Experience
Let me start by saying I had a wonderful, wonderful time here. I recommend this to anyone looking for some "alone time" with a significant other. For any great holiday, you need great 1) hospitality 2) accomodations and ambience 3) location and proximity to "fun stuff" and ofcourse 4) FOOD. I'm writing this review accordingly: 1) HOSPITALITY The hosts - Dennis and Nancy - were delightful. They spent enough time with you to feel welcome and comfortable and left you alone to enjoy the place. They suggested great places to eat and chatted you up. Hospitality lacking
My husband and I arrived at Spring Lake by train,we phoned Ocean House looking for directions by foot and the owner Dennis offered to pick us up, which he did, and was chatty and told us a little of the town's background. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful with respect to recommending a restaurant that evening-a good start. It went downhill from there. We knew our room had 2 single beds as we booked late.
