It's not the kind of hotel where you can spend the entire day and not be bored, but it's right in the middle of the UNC campus and two minutes walk from Franklin St., which is a very good place to spend time. more on Travelocity.com

in the heart of the UNC campus is the Carolina Inn, a standard for university owned hotels-we visited this week for 2 days-the location is 5 minutes to any college venue, and the food is wonderful, and the people are so pleasant-have a drink in the patio and watch the college kids go by-you may never leave A roll-away is only $15, so use this for a backup for the kids if the Inn is full, try the Franklin Inn-just around the corner-nice and new location bar great catering /funtion rooms more on VirtualTourist
