Charlotte, North
Carolina is the state’s largest city, offering romantic couples a wide
array of inspired and innovative choices in lodging and activities. With a helping hand from the Visitor’s Bureau, we headed off to
the massive Ballantyne Resort Hotel
for their exclusive Luxury Romance weekend.
This elegant, all-inclusive resort has a well-equipped, spacious fitness
room, sauna, steam rooms, spa facilities and its own 18-hole championship
golf-course. We loved the on-site
restaurants with gourmet menus. Our kids
enjoyed the nearby Carowinds Water-park,
as suggested by our kid-friendly and helpful concierge.
For a quiet, relaxed weekend in Charlotte NC, romantic
couples will enjoy the picturesque Victorian
Villa Inn, including all the charm of a traditional B&B. We suggest the Lincoln Suite, with its
breathtaking view over the lake from the large private balcony. You’ll love the antiques and massive
sleigh-bed, plus your own fire-place. A
kid-friendly B&B, we booked the adjacent Amelia room for the rest of our
family. The elegant Juliet Suite has an
inspiring stone fireplace, and is just steps away from the refreshing
blue-tiled swimming pool outside. The
owners are helpful and attentive, offering boat tours when time permits.
The VanLandingham
Estate Inn makes the perfect Charlotte
romantic getaway. We recommend their
“Incredible Romance” package. Be sure to
visit the mosaic fountain and take a ride in the tree swing.
