We stayed at the Microtel in Gastonia, NC the night of May 20, 2006. It was only $45, other hotels off I-85 in this area were $80 and up. The room smelled kind of like urine. The rooms are very clean and the prices are affordable. Not to mention the staff and managment are friendly and helpful. We had to stay for a while due to work being done on our house. We came off I-85 and got 2 rooms. One had a broken security bolt/chain hanging on the door. Not a big problem since it also had a dead bolt. The second room was disgusting.
