"Inn-hospitable" INN!

Every year, for the past 9 years, the women in our family have gotten together for a B&B weekend. Not the place for us

The Smithton Inn is beautiful. It is old and nicely restored. Beautiful flowers abound. Location is wonderful in the Amish county. We awakened most mornings to the clip clop of buggies going past the Inn. Check-in is at 3:30...do not show up a minute early or you will be ignored until 3:30. The innkeeper takes you through the check in process. Do not ask any questions or you will be glared at and told to wait until she is finished with her instructions. You must decide at check-in what you will feel like drinking the next day (tea or coffee and whether or not you will want cream.) As I sometimes drink tea and sometimes coffee depending upon my nights sleep, I told her that probably tea, but sometimes I like coffee. She did not seem to like this, but reluctantly said that she would need to make coffee anyway, so it would probably be okay. A Complete Miss on Hospitality

While the rooms are clean and well maintained, the service we received by the Innkeeper was terrible. After a 1.5-hour drive, we arrived at the Smithton Inn at 3:17 p.m. We took a seat in the Common Room and were soon met by the Innkeeper, Dorothy Graybill, at the front desk. She announced that check-in was at 3:30 p.m. I replied that we would happily wait for 13 minutes. Mixed Bag

A very nice structure which needs the warmth of a congenial hostess to bring it to life. Unfortunately, you end up feeling you are putting the hostess out or bothering her when you ask her anything.
