Located in the southeastern part of Effingham County, Rincon was established as a city only in 1927. However, don't be fooled by this recent date because as early as 1751, there were already settlers in the area. Rincon, Georgia really got a head start with the development of its railroads when a line was built from Carolinas to the Savannah River. It is believed that the name "Rincon" was adapted from a small town in Mexico.
