Don't go for the food or service!
If you are looking for a place to have a great dining experience, stay away from here. A packed house even on a weekday gave the illusion of the best seafood place to eat on the island. I stayed at the National Hotel when I came to Block Island for a wedding in August 2006. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff was great. We stayed in an ocean-side suite and it was spacious enough for four adults and a baby (the hotel provided a crib).

We loved our room at the National Hotel ! We stayed in the skylight suite, it was bright and cozy. It overlooked Old Harbor. It was plenty big and could sleep up to 4 people comfortably.
