Quality inn should consider changing their name.....

OK the family and I where looking for a place to stay in the Newport area for a few days in June. We decided to stay closer to 1st beach as the kids want to spend most of their time there. I have stayed at several B&B's, the Marriott downtown and the Hotel Viking in the past. This was the first time we stayed down by the beach and I didn't mind giving up on some of the amenities or conveniences of being downtown Newport especially since most of the hotel options downtown were close to 300 a night. We got a great rate around 160 with AAA. We had a huge suite 2 king beds a living room(pull out couch)/dining area with small kitchen area ( micro, small fridge and sink).Tthe room was very spacious and clean. However the beds were awful! Too soft and saggy and you could feel the springs. Our backs were feeling sore just after one night. I have stayed at holiday inns and courtyards and their beds are great, so you can't say it is a budget hotel thing, as others offer higher quality mattresses. Bathrooms where clean but could use some work... overall not that bad. You get good value but probably make up for the savings by having to schedule a visit with the chiropractor! The location was good right across from the beach (Atlantic beach club at 1st beach) and a very short drive and could easily bike to downtown Newport. The comfort inn is across the street and is a sister hotel which allows you use of the pool and you are allowed to eat breakfast there, which is all included in the price of your stay at the Quality Inn.
