A personal favorite is the Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Bay. This Victorian style lighthouse, with its seventy eight rooms, just coaxes you in. each room has a lovely balcony with views of the well manicured gardens or of the Gulf. The afternoon breeze keeps things a very pleasant temperature all day. Forty six of the rooms are suites for both business and leisure. There are several types of suites in this Rockport Texas hotel, our favorite was the Captain’s Suite. Our own little apartment, this was home for us for a week. With a full size kitchen, living room and bedroom, it was just like home. I didn’t get the feel that this location is kid friendly as they do cater primarily to the professional and business crowd.

The Laguna Reef Hotel is located right on the gulf and is a great lodge for leisure travelers. Dogs are welcome, for a small daily charge. You can make the choice of a kitchen, kitchenette, or simple a microwave and small refrigerator, indicate your preference when you make your reservation. The pool is outdoors, overlooking the gulf and is a welcome relief to the heat of summer. This Rockport Texas hotel welcomes out-of-towners and will gladly offer ideas and advice when you are planning your daily adventure.
