NOT the memories we wanted on vacation

We were booked at the end of August, 2007, for 4 nights in 2 pet friendly rooms, the Carriage King and Ghillie's Den, with our teenage daughters. Looking at the rooms on line, they appeared lovely. However, in person they were shabby, run down, had cracked panes of glass, and in window air conditioners which were poorly fitted to allow in insects at night. The window cranks did not work properly. The flower beds outside had some large weeds which needed pulling, and were coming up through the gravel. The worst part, though, was the terrible odor in both rooms, especially in the Carriage King. Upon pointing the odor out to the owner on arrival, he became very defensive and told us how the room had been professionally cleaned recently. Tranquil setting with caring innkeepers
