Stayed over Labor Day 2006. We arrived late in the day with no reservation, and were surprised to find many rooms available. The desk clerk gave us the AAA rate even though I didnt have AAA, and we took a whirlpool room. Room was dirty, with "doesnt anyone clean these rooms?" written in the dust ... A Yahoo! Great hotel and price

We drive through Eau Claire every year and the hotels there (and in all of northern WI and MN) are way over-priced. Even the cheap-o chains can cost $100-120. the Plaza doesn't look like much from the outside. But the people were very, very nice. Great hotel for the price

I heard they did massive renovation and from what I heard it needed it. We stayed there only because my daughters college soccer team was there and I was a little worried after reading reviews from 2004 and 2005 but you can ignore those.
